The Knuckles Mountain Range, locally known as Dumbara Kanduvetiya (“Misty Mountain Range”), is one of Sri Lanka’s most spectacular natural treasures. Named after the series of mountain peaks that resemble the knuckles of a clenched fist, this mountain range offers the country’s finest hiking experience. Recognized as part of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Central Highlands of Sri Lanka, Knuckles is a paradise for hikers, wildlife enthusiasts, birdwatchers, photographers, and adventure seekers.

1. Geographical Information

  • Location: Central Province, spanning the Matale and Kandy districts.

Camping is one of the best ways to experience Knuckles, but it should be done with a registered guide and the required permissions, as many trails are remote and weather conditions can change rapidly.
